Painter, draughtsman, teacher. Born in the family of Dmitry Losyev in the town of Bezhetsk in Tver Province (1835). Studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1850s). Awarded the title of free artist of portrait painting (1856). Taught drawing and handwriting at Gatchina Municipal College (second half of 1850s). Decorated by the imperial family (1859). Published Copies of the Miracle-Working Icons and Tombs of Holy Relics of Russia (1859–60) and A Guide to Drafting, Drawing and Handwriting (1864). Taught drawing at the Sixth Grammar School in St Petersburg (1862–91). Died at the age of fifty-six in St Petersburg and buried at the St Mitrophan Cemetery (1891).
