Painter, draughtsman, illustrator, caricaturist, teacher. Born (1802). Studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1813–24). Awarded a minor silver medal (1820), major silver medal (1822), minor silver medal (1823), minor gold medal and a bursary (1824) and a major gold medal (1827). Nominated to the Imperial Academy of Arts (1851), academician (1861). Taught at the School of Drawing of the Society for the Encouragement of Artists (from 1850).
