Finnish-Swedish jeweller, silversmith. Hallmark: A.S or A•S or Sper or A•SPER in a rectangle. Born in the Finnish municipality of Kirkkonummi near Helsinki (1799). Moved to St Petersburg, where he worked as an apprentice (1816), journeyman (1821) and master (1829). Married Anna Charlotta Aurin (1830). Opened a workshop on the corner of Povarskoi Lane and Stremyannaya Street in St Petersburg, where he had many apprentices and made silverware in the Biedermeier and Second Rococo styles (1830s–40s). Worked in his wife’s hometown of Wasa/Vaasa (renamed Nikolaistad/Nikolainkaupunki in 1855) on the Gulf of Bothnia in Finland (1850s). Died in Nikolainkaupunki (1857).
