Applied artist, teacher. Born in the family of a wooden carver called Ivan Maximov (1884–1956) in the village of Bogorodskoe near Sergiev Posad (1910). Studied under his father (1920s) and worked as a wooden carver in Bogorodskoe (until 1970). Recalled from the front during the Second World War to open a school of traditional wooden carving in Bogorodskoe (1944). Member of the Union of Artists (1948). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1969). Died in an unknown location (1986). Contributed to exhibitions, including Fairytales in Russia at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2000).
