Painter, graphic artist. Born in the family of Mikhail Kovalsky in Leningrad (1948). Graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Topography (1969). Member of the Fellowship of Experimental Fine Art (1981) and Fifth Thursday (1983). Founding member of the cultural centre at 10 Pushkin Street in St Petersburg (1989), Free Culture Foundation (1990) and the Museum of Nonconformist Art (1998). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1973).
