Artist. Born in the town of Yoshida (now part of Tsubame) in the prefecture of Niigata in Japan (January 1920). Called up into the Imperial Japanese Army (January 1940). Served in China (from March 1941). Captured by Soviet forces in Manchuria (August 1945). Prisoner of war in Karaganda (November 1945 to February 1950). Returned to Japan and held a small exhibition of works inspired by his memories of Karaganda. Died (1973). Contributed to many international exhibitions and a one-man show (January 1956).
