Painter, graphic artist, poster designer. Born in the family of Alexei Kazantsev in Khabarovsk (1908). Studied under Ilya Mashkov in Moscow (1928–29), at the Institute of Applied and Decorative art in Leningrad (1931) and under Konstantin Juon and Rudolf Frentz at the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1932–37). Member of the youth wing of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (1928–30). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR. Died in Leningrad (1984). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1929).
