Painter. Elder brother of Pyotr Smolin. Born in the family of Alexander Smolin in Moscow (1927). Studied under Alexander Deineka at the Vasily Surikov Institute of Art (1953–59). Member of the Union of Artists (1962) and the Group of Eight. Honoured Artist of the RSFSR. Died in Moscow (1994). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1958).
