Painter, teacher. Born in the family of Ivan Petrovichev in the village of Vysokovo in Yaroslavl Province (1873). Studied under Abram Arkhipov and Isaac Levitan at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1892–1903). Developed his own original style of Impressionist painting, applying thick, impasto strokes using a palette knife. Member of the Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions (1906) and the Union of Russian Artists (1911). Died in Moscow and buried at the Vagankovo Cemetery(1947). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1895). Contributed to the periodical exhibitions of the Moscow Society of Lovers of the Arts (1899–1901, 1905, 1909) and the exhibitions of the Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions (1901–12), World of Art (1902, 1903), Union of Russian Artists (1905–23), Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (1922), Unification (1925) and the Society of Realist Artists (1927, 1928).
