Tsarevna Ekaterina Alexeyevna was the seventh child and fifth daughter of Alexis Mikhailovich and Maria Miloslavskaya. She was born in Moscow on 26 November 1658. St Catherine’s Hermitage was founded near the village of Tsaritsyno in her honour. Her godparents were the future Catherine I and Tsarevich Alexis Petrovich. Had an affair with Yegor Yeliseyev, a priest from Kostroma. Died in Moscow on 1 May 1718 and buried at the Novodevichy Convent.
