The Sermon on the Mount
The Mount of Olives is the southern summit of three peaks lying to the east of Jerusalem, separated from the city by the Kidron valley. This was the scene of Christ’s Sermon on the Mount, a collection of religious teachings and ethical sayings based on a new law of love. At the beginning of the last week of His life, Jesus also prophesied the Second Coming on the Mount of Olives (Matthew 5–7; 24–25).
