Wooden bascule bridge in the alignment of Nevsky Prospekt (1715). Named after the adjoining Anichkov Sloboda – a neighbourhood erected by a team of workers headed by Lieutenant Colonel Mikhail Anichkov, who built the first Anichkov Bridge. Replaced by a stone bridge (1783–87). Seven single-model three-span bridges with bascule mechanisms and four turrets at the approaches were built across the River Fontanka. Rebuilt by architect Alexander Brullov and engineer Andrei Gotman across the entire breadth of Nevsky Prospekt (1839–41). Four sculptural groups of horses and tamers by Baron Peter Clodt von Jürgensburg installed on the bridge (1841).
