The Church of the Saviour Not Made By Human Hands was the court stables church. Originally a wooden church built by Nicolaus Friedrich Harbel (1720–23), it was transferred to the new stone building of the court stables and located above its main gates (1737). Vasily Stasov rebuilt the church and the stables (1817–23), while Vasily Shebuyev, Fyodor Brulleau and Alexei Yegorov painted icons for the new church. The bas-reliefs on the facade were sculpted by Vasily Demut-Malinovsky. The funeral of Alexander Pushkin was held in the church (1 February 1837).
