Jeweller, silversmith. Hallmark: DES. Probably descended from a Swedish prisoner-of-war captured at the Battle of Poltava (1709) and resettled in Tobolsk by order of Peter the Great after an unsuccessful attempt to escape from Moscow (1711). Worked in the Rococo style in Tobolsk (1778–94). Made a silver teapot and coffeepot for Siberian governor General Denis Chicherin (1779) and a silver holy-water basin (1780–85).
