Ivan Seleznyov

Painter, teacher. Studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1872–82). Awarded two minor silver medals (1876), two major silver medals (1877, 1878), a minor gold medal (1880) and a major gold medal (1882). Fellow of the Imperial Academy of Arts in Rome (1883–86). Taught at the Nikolai Murashko School of Drawing in Kiev (1886–90) and the Kiev School of Art (from 1901, director 1911–14). Painted icons for the Church of the Intercession in Solomenka (1897). Chairman of the Kiev Fellowship of Artists of Religious Painting (from 1908). Contributed to the exhibitions of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1882, 1883, 1887), Fellowship of South Russian Artists (1890, 1891) and the Kiev Fellowship of Artists (1894–1900).
