Painter, teacher. Born in the family of a former serf called Lavrenty Gorokhov in the village of Beli in Moscow Province (1863). Studied under Illarion Pryanishnikov and Vladimir Makovsky at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1874–87). Taught at a secondary school in the village of Beli in Moscow Province (1914–34). Died in Mozhaisk (1934). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1881). Contributed to the exhibitions of the Moscow Society of Lovers of Arts (1889–1906, 1908, 1909, 1911), Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions (1893, 1894, 1899, 1908), St Petersburg Society of Artists (1895–1900, 1902–09, 1912, 1913, 1917), Pan-Russian Exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod (1896), Mignon (1904), Group of Artists (1909), Fellowship of Artists (1909, 1912) and Artists for their Soldier Comrades (1914).
