Victor Elkonin

Painter, graphic artist. Born in the family of Boris Elkonin in the village of Malaya Pereschepina in the Ukraine (1910). Studied at the Children’s Palace in Poltava (1920–23), Mikhail Le Blanc’s studio in Moscow (1924–27) and under Konstantin Istomin, Lev Bruni, Pavel Kuznetsov and Vladimir Favorsky at the VKhUTEIN (1927–30). Member of Four Arts (1931) and the Union of Artists (1933). Worked at the studio of monumental painting of the Academy of Architecture of the USSR (1935–41, 1945–48). Fought in the Second World War (1941–45). Died in Moscow (1994). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1927).
