Tatyana Dmitriyeva-Shulpina

Tatyana Dmitriyeva-Shulpina (1913–1999): Russian applied artist, designer, teacher. Studied white-satin stitching under her mother E. F. Dmitriyeva in Mstiora. Worked at the Nadezhda Krupskaya Embroidery Artel in Mstiora and the Communard Artel in Vladimir. Taught embroidery at the Mstiora School of Art. Member of the Union of Artists and Honoured Artist of the RSFSR.

Applied artist, designer, teacher. Born in the family of icon-painter Mefody Shulpin and needlewoman E. F. Dmitriyeva in the village of Mstiora in Vladimir Province (1913). Studied white-satin stitching under her mother (1920s). Worked at the Nadezhda Krupskaya Embroidery Artel in Mstiora (1928–39, artistic director from 1936) and the Communard Artel in Vladimir (1939–41). Returned to the Nadezhda Krupskaya Embroidery Artel in Mstiora (1941) and taught embroidery at the Mstiora School of Art (1943–69). Member of the Union of Artists (1945). Designed patterns for mass production (1969–75). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1974). Died in the village of Mstiora in Vladimir Region (1999). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1936), including Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne in Paris (1937) and Fairytales in Russia at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2000).
