Guerman Yegoshin

Painter, graphic artist, teacher. Born in the family of Pavel Yegoshin in Leningrad (1931). Studied at the Leningrad School of Art (1949–50), Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1950–53) and under Alexander Zaitsev and Boris Johanson at the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad (1953–59). Member of the Union of Artists (1961). Taught at the Leningrad Artistic-Graphic Pedagogical Institute and the Vera Mukhina School of Art and Industry in Leningrad (1960s–70s). Honoured Artist of Russia (2007). Died in St Petersburg and buried at the Smolensk Cemetery (2009). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1959), including the Exhibition of Eleven Artists at the Okhta Exhibition Hall in Leningrad (1972), Play and Passion in Russian Fine Art at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (1999–2000), Jesus Christ in Christian Art and Culture (14th to 20th Centuries) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2000), St Petersburg: A Portrait of the City and its Citizens at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2003) and Times of Change: Art in the Soviet Union (1960–85) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2006).
