Nikolai Kovalenko
Painter, graphic artist, lithographer. Studied art at a worker’s faculty in Kiev (from 1925) and the Institute of Proletarian Fine Art in Leningrad (from 1930). Transferred to the Kiev Institute of Art (1932), returned to Leningrad and enrolled in Dmitry Kardovsky’s studio at the Academy of Arts (1932), but left to work under Pavel Filonov (1935).
