Ira Waldron

Born: 1957, Leningrad

Artist. Born in Leningrad (1957). Took up painting in childhood, but never received an artistic education. Emigrated to France and became a professional artist (1977). First one-woman show at the Stephen Bartley Gallery in London (1985). Contributed to many group exhibitions in London and Paris, collaborated with foreign galleries. Held one-woman shows in Moscow (from 1992). Showed the Social Hygiene project at the Mitki-VKhUTEMAS exhibition centre (1997). Celebrated the bicentenary of Alexander Pushkin with two shows – Fuck You Dantes! at the Marat Guelman Gallery in Moscow and Demon, I Am Bored at the Russian Museum (1999).
