Carlos Alberto Estévez Carasa

Born: 1969, Havana (Cuba)

Cuban artist. Born in Havana (1969). Graduated from the Escuela de Artes Plásticas San Alejandro in Havana (1986) and Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana (1992). Prize-winner at the First Salon of Modern Cuban Art in Havana (1995). Trained at the Gasworks Studios in London and the Academia de San Carlos in Mexico (1997). Fellow of the Art Omi International Arts Center in New York (1998). Took part in the Artists Abroad project at the Nordic Artists’ Centre Dalsåsen, Norway (2000). Lives and works in Havana. Contributed to Una de cada clase at the Fundación Ludwig de Cuba in Havana (1995), Segunda Bienal Barro de América at the Centro de Arte Lía Bermúdez in Maracaibo, Venezuela (1995), Mundo soñado at the Fundación Ludwig de Cuba in Havana and the Casa de América in Madrid (1996), VI Havana Biennale (1997), Biennale (internacional de pintura) in Cuenca, Equador (1998), Contemporary Art from Cuba. Irony and Survival on the Utopian Island at the Arizona State University Museum in Tempe, Arizona and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco (1998) and Hedendaagse Cubaanse Kunst uit de Verzameling van het Ludwig Forum at the Museum Oud-Hospitaal in Aalst, Belgium (2000).
