Painter, graphic artist. Born in the family of Vasily Kozlov in the village of Troitsko-Pechersk on the River Pechora in the south-east of the Komi-Zyryan Autonomous Region (1926). Studied at the Yarsolavl School of Art (1947–49), Leningrad School of Art (1949–50) and the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1950–56). Member of the Union of Artists (1955). Awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples and a medal for “work of the year” by the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1977). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1978), People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1987). Died in St Petersburg and buried at the Smolensk Cemetery (2007). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1956), including Times of Change: Art in the Soviet Union (1960–85) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2006).
