Painter. Younger brother of Alexander Smolin. Born in the family of Alexander Smolin in Moscow (1930). Studied at the Moscow Secondary School of Art (1944–51) and the Vasily Surikov Institute of Art in Moscow (1951–57). Member of the Union of Artists (1958) and the Group of Eight. Honoured Artist of the RSFSR. Contributed to exhibitions (from 1954).
