Prince Georgy Shervashidze

Born in Abkhazia in the family of Prince Dmitry Shervashidze and Princess Ekaterina Dadiani (1847). Vice governor of Tiflis (from 1883), governor of Tiflis (from 1888), grand marshal at the court of Dowager Empress Maria Fyodorovna (from 1898). Alleged in the false “diary” of Anna Vyrubova written by Alexei Tolstoy and Pavel Schyogolev to have secretly married Maria Fyodorovna. Died in the Crimea (1918).
