Choros

Chandeliers consisted of a bowl hanging from chains and were an important element in the interior decor of Russian Orthodox churches. There were various types of lighting appliances – candlesticks for two, three or seven candles, icon lamps and the church chandelier (panikadilos). The choros was an early bowl-shaped chandelier, which was also known as a Korsun lamp, after the place where Grand Prince Vladimir was originally christened in the tenth century.
