Smaragd Shustov built the Stone Island Theatre from wood in the Neoclassical style on the bank of the Middle Nevka (1827). Dismantled in 1844, the theatre was later recreated by Alberto Cavos. The Islands were a popular place of relaxation in the first half of the nineteenth century. Only open in summer, the Stone Island Theatre enjoyed great popularity up until the second half of the 1870s and still stands to this day.
