Painter. Born in the family of Nikolai Baksheyev in Moscow (1862). Studied under Illarion Pryanishnikov, Vladimir Makovsky and Vasily Polenov at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1878–88). Member of the Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions (1896), Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (1922) and Society of Realist Artists (1927). Taught at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1894–1918). Academician of painting (1913). People’s Artist of the USSR, full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. Died in Moscow (1958). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1885). Contributed to the exhibitions of the Moscow Society of Lovers of the Arts (1890–96, 1910), Moscow Fellowship of Artists (1891–93), Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions (1891–1923), World of Art (1901), 36 Artists (1901, 1902), Union of Russian Artists (1903, 1905, 1923) and Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (1926).
