Painter, graphic artist, object artist, installation artist, art critic, writer, television presenter, head editor of www.sobaka.ru. Born in the family of Pavel Belkin in Moscow (1953). Studied under B. A. Rybin at a private school of art for children in Siverskoe (1960–63), Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1963–70), Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad (1970–72) and Leningrad College of Art and Industry (1972–74). One of the youngest members of the nonconformist movement (1970s). Contributed to exhibitions in Russia (from 1974) and abroad (from 1977). Contributed to the exhibition at the Ivan Gaza Palace of Culture in Leningrad (1974), exhibitions of unofficial art in Bochum, New Jersey and Montgeron (1970s–80s), Abstraction in Russia: XX Century at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2001–02), Collage in Russia: XX Century at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2005–06), Times of Change: Art in the Soviet Union (1960–85) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2006), many one-man shows in Europe and the United States and a one-man show at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (1996).
