Jewish painter, graphic artist, teacher. Husband of Valentina Rybalko. Born in the family of Yevsei Moiseyenko in the village of Uvarovichi in White Russia (1916). Studied at the Mikhail Kalinin School of Art and Industry in Moscow (1931–35) and the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1935–41, 1945–47). Taught at the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1958–88), professor (1963). People’s Artist of the USSR, full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. Awarded the Lenin Prize (1974) and the State Prize of the USSR (1983). Died in Leningrad and buried at the Volkovo Cemetery (1988). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1947).
