Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich was born at the Konstantin Palace in Strelna (1858). He was a famous poet, who published his works under the pseudonym of “K.R.” Peter Tchaikovsky, Alexander Glazunov and other famous Russian composers set his poems to music. Konstantin was also president of the Imperial Academy of Sciences (1889) and commander of the Preobrazhensky Regiment (1891). He founded the Pushkin House (Institute of Russian Literature) and was chairman of the Alexander Pushkin centenary celebrations committee (1899). He died at Pavlovsk Palace (1915).
