Painter. Son of Pyotr Yefimovich Zabolotsky. Studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1858–66). Awarded minor silver medals (1859, 1860, 1863) and major silver medals (1859, 1861). One of the rebellious fourteen students who refused to paint the set topic in the competition for a major gold medal (1863). Later distanced himself from the group and remained at the Academy, graduating with a major gold medal (1865) and the title of first-class artist (1866). Painted a portrait of Tsar Alexander III (1882). Contributed to exhibitions at the Imperial Academy of Arts (from 1857).
