Painter, teacher. Studied under Carl Wilhelm von Rabus and Alexei Savrasov at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1851–58) and under Sokrat Vorobyov at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1858–65). Awarded a minor silver medal (1858), major silver medal (1860), minor gold medal (1861) and the title of first-class artist of landscape painting (1865). Lived in Moscow, St Petersburg, Yaroslavl Province (from 1864) and Kalyazin in Tver Province. Taught drawing and handwriting at a district school in Vilna Province (from 1866). Year of death determined by the date of his last known painting (1889). Contributed to exhibitions at the Imperial Academy of Arts (from 1858).
