André Durand

Died: 1867, Paris

French draughtsman, lithographer. Travelled across Russia, sailing via Le Havre, Hamburg and Lübeck and visiting Kronstadt, St Petersburg, Novgorod, Tver, Moscow, Sergiev Posad, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl and Kazan (1839). Returned to Paris and lithographed a hundred works for Count Anatoly Demidov’s Excursion pittoresque et archéologique en Russie (1842). Worked in Belgium (1840s), Tuscany (early 1850s) and Sebastopole (1856).
