Georg Dericker

Georg Dericker (1821?–1847): Swedish engraver. Engraved clichés for banknotes at the Imperial Stationery Office in St Petersburg and studied xylography in the studio of Baron Konstantin Clodt von Jürgensburg. Engraved drawings for Ivan Myatlev’s “The Sensations and Comments of Mrs Kurdyukova Abroad”, Count Vladimir Sollogub’s “The Tarantas: Travelling Impressions of Young Russia”, Nester Kukolnik’s “Illustration” magazine, second edition of Alexander Smirdin’s “House-Warming” almanac and Vladimir Islavin’s “The Samoyeds in their Domestic and Public Life”.

Swedish engraver. Relative of Carl Christian Philipp Reichel. Born in St Petersburg in the family of a Swedish mechanical master called Wilhelm Dericker (1821?). Engraved clichés for banknotes at the Second (Typographic) Department of the Imperial Stationery Office in St Petersburg (second half of 1830s). Studied xylography in the studio of Baron Konstantin Clodt von Jürgensburg (from 1840). Engraved drawings for Ivan Myatlev’s The Sensations and Comments of Mrs Kurdyukova Abroad (1840–44), Ours Copied From Life by Russians (1841), Pictures of Russian Manners (1842), Short and Tall Tales (1843), Count Vladimir Sollogub’s The Tarantas: Travelling Impressions of Young Russia (1845), Nester Kukolnik’s Illustration magazine (1845), second edition of Alexander Smirdin’s House-Warming almanac (1845–46) and Vladimir Islavin’s The Samoyeds in their Domestic and Public Life (1847). Died of consumption in St Petersburg (1847).
