Yevgenia Smirnova-Ivanova

Yevgenia Smirnova-Ivanova (1875–1970), Russian Post-Impressionist painter. Lived and worked in St Petersburg/Leningrad, where she painted portraits and contributed to the exhibitions of the New Society of Artists, Moscow Fellowship of Artists and the World of Art.

Painter. Born in the family of Alexei Smirnov in St Petersburg (1875). Influenced by the Impressionists and Vincent van Gogh (1900s). Painted a portrait of Alexander Ivanov (1907), an art historian who later worked at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg. Moved towards a more constructive style with richer tones (1910s). Died in Leningrad (1970). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1907). Contributed to the exhibitions of the New Society of Artists (1907–14), Moscow Fellowship of Artists (1910), World of Art (1911, 1922, 1924) and Impressionism in Russia at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2000).
