Yury Kryakvin

Painter, graphic artist. Born in the family of architect Dmitry Kryakvin in Leningrad (1948). Studied at the Vladimir Serov School of Art in Leningrad (1964–68). Lived and worked on the island of Balaam in Lake Ladoga (1972–84). Painted portraits of Russian actors and actresses (1980s). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1967), including Abstraction in Russia: XX Century at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2001–02), Times of Change: Art in the Soviet Union (1960–85) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2006) and a one-man show in the Fyodor Chaliapin Memorial Estate at 25-27 Novinsky Boulevard in Moscow (2012).
