Painter, graphic artist. Born in a worker’s family in Vilna Province (1904). Studied at the Prince Vyacheslav Tenishev College (1917–19) and under Nathan Altman at the Petrograd State Free Art Studios/VKhUTEMAS/VKhUTEIN (1920–26). Worked for the Advertising Artel (1926–28), Glavnauka Art and Reproduction Studios (1928–34) and the Political Education Centre Studios. Attended Pavel Filonov’s studio (late 1920s). Member of the Leningrad branch of the Union of Artists (from 1935). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1922), including Masters of Analytical Art: The Filonov School at the House of Printing in Leningrad (1927).
