Vasily Slepchenko

Vasily Slepchenko was born on 5 March 1962 in the town of Uglegorsk on the island of Sakhalin. After his family moved to Taganrog, he enrolled at the children’s art school and studied under Leonid Stukanov. In 1982, Slepchenko graduated from the Mitrofan Grekov School of Art in Rostov-on-Don, where his classmates included Valery Koshlyakov, Avdei Ter-OganianYury Shabelnikov and Nikolai Konstantinov. Slepchenko took part in most of the Art or Death exhibitions. In 1991, he moved to Moscow and lived in the squat on Tryokhprudny Pereulok with other members of the group. Slepchenko made drawings and wrote literary texts. He was also interested in religious philosophy. Vasily Slepchenko died in a freak accident in Rostov-on-Don on 20 October 1991.
