Maria Kharlamova

Sculptress. Wife of Moisei Weinman. Born in Petrograd (1917) in the family of sculptor Matvei Kharlamov (1870–1930). Studied under Victor Sinaisky and Alexander Matveyev at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad (1937–46). Member of the Union of Artists (1946). Taught at the Vera Mukhina School of Art and Industry in Leningrad (1950–57). Died in St Petersburg and buried at Komarovo Cemetery (2008). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1947), including Portraiture in Russia: XX Century at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2001–02), All Creatures Great and Small: Russian Animal Art (18th to 21st Centuries) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2004), Times of Change: Art in the Soviet Union (1960–85) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2006) and one-woman shows at the Union of Artists in Leningrad (1987) and the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2007).
