Yevgeny Charushin

Born: 1901, Vyatka (now Kirov)
Died: 1965, Leningrad

Book designer, lithographer, draughtsman, sculptor, writer. Father of Nikita Charushin. Born in the family of architect Ivan Charushin in Vyatka (1901). Studied under Alexei Karev, Alexander Savinov, Mikhail Matiushin and Vasily Savinsky at the VKhUTEIN in Petrograd/Leningrad (1922–26). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1932). Member of the Union of Artists. Worked under Vladimir Lebedev at the Children’s Publishing House. Collaborated with the experimental graphic studio of the Leningrad branch of the Union of Artists (from 1935). Died in Leningrad and buried at the Cemetery of St John the Theologian (1965).
