Vladimir Grinberg

Died: 1942, Leningrad

Painter, graphic artist, sculptor, illustrator, teacher. Born in the family of Ary Grinberg in Rostov-on-Don (1896). Studied at the Rostov-on-Don College of Commerce, Polytechnic Institute and under Osip Braz, Mstislav Dobuzhinsky, Dmitry Kardovsky, Yevgeny Lanceray and Alexander Yakovlev at the New Art Studio in St Petersburg (from 1915). Member of the World of Art (1917), Sixteen (1924) and the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (1928). Taught at a school of art and workers university in Rostov-on-Don (1919–22) and the Leningrad Institute of Engineers of Communal Construction (1922–41). Died in the Siege of Leningrad and buried at the Bolshaya Okhta Cemetery (1942). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1914). Contributed to the exhibitions of the World of Art (1917), Sixteen (1924), Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (1928), Russian Art Exhibition at the Grand Central Palace in New York (1924) and the exhibitions of Russian art in Tokyo (1927) and Paris (1929).
