Sofia Schulman

Sofia Schulman (1860–after 1920): Russian painter, graphic artist. Studied at the School of Drawing of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts in St Petersburg. Worked at the State Free Art Studios and the Decorative Institute in Petrograd.

Painter, graphic artist. Born in the family of Gustav Schulman in the small town of Kybartai in Russian Poland (1860). Studied at the School of Drawing of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts in St Petersburg (from 1906). Worked in Petrograd at the State Free Art Studios (from 1919) and the Decorative Institute (from 1920). Died in an unknown location (after 1920). Contributed to exhibitions, including The Avant-Garde: Before and After at Europalia in the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels (2005) and Virada russa: A vanguarda na Coleção do Museu Estatal Russo de São Petersburgo at the Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro (2009).
