Dmitry Buchkin

Born: 1927, Leningrad

Painter, graphic artist, industrial designer, writer. Son of Pyotr Buchkin. Enrolled at the Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1940). Survived the Siege of Leningrad (1941–44) and joined the Red Army (1945). Studied at the Vera Mukhina School of Art and Industry in Leningrad (1945–52). Member of the Union of Artists (1954) and the Peter the Great Academy of Sciences and Arts (1994). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1953), including St Petersburg: A Portrait of the City and its Citizens at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2003) and one-man shows in Uglich (1965), Leningrad/St Petersburg (1984, 1991, 1993, 1995) and Mikhailovskoe (1985).
