Painter, graphic artist. Born in the family of Ivan Ivanov in Moscow (1924). Studied at the Moscow Secondary School of Art (1939–44) and at the Vasily Surikov Institute of Art in Moscow (1944–50). Member of the Union of Artists (1951). Awarded silver (1963) and gold (1985) medals by the Academy of Arts of the USSR. Winner of the State Prize of the USSR (1968), Ilya Repin Prize (1989) and the State Prize of Russia (1996). People’s Artist of the USSR (1990), full member of the Academy of Arts (1988). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1950).
