Italian tenor, bel canto opera singer. Born in Romano di Lombardia near Bergamo (1794). Debuted in Pavia (1814). Repertoire included Gioacchino Rossini’s Otello, Gaetano Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and Vincenzo Bellini’s La sonnambula, Il pirata and I puritani. Performed in St Petersburg and Moscow (1843, 1845, 1847). Died in Romano di Lombardia and buried at the Vecchio cimitero (1854).
