The Volga Rebels (1926)

Directed and script by Pavel Petrov-Bytov; script by Joachim Maximov-Koshkinsky; camera by Sergei Lebedev; movie poster by N. N. Sedov and Mikhail Veksler.

Described as an “historical drama in eight parts,” this was the first film independently directed by Pavel Petrov-Bytov (1895–1960).

The miserly plots of barren land in Chuvashia cannot feed the local people and they migrate throughout the Russian Empire. They consequently play an active role in the 1905 revolution. The film no longer survives.
