The young Georgian directors originally entitled this now lost documentary 18–28 to symbolise the contrast between when their country was under the rule of the Mensheviks (1918) and the Bolsheviks (1928). The montage of documental footage and expressive texts helped Mikhail Kalatozov (1903–1973) to deliver a bitter parody.
