The Axe Soup
This is the story about how a cunning soldier tricked a miserly old woman. The soldier asked the old woman for something to eat, but the old woman said that she had no food in her house. The soldier pretended to make soup from an axe, and did it so convincingly that the old woman inadvertently got out her salt, butter, groats and other food. The axe soup was surprisingly filling!
