St Petersburg Provincial Credit Society

The St Petersburg Provincial Credit Society was founded in 1907. It offered local citizens mortgages for the purchase of houses and plots of land within the bounds of St Petersburg Province. In 1909, the society had property worth three million roubles on its books. By 1910, this figure had jumped to seven million. The leading pre-revolutionary building society and land bank, the St Petersburg Provincial Credit Society occupied a building on Caravan Street designed by Konstantin Bobrovsky and Boris Botkin (1914–16).
